Webinar: A Safer Enteral Feeding System – Transitioning to ENFit Connectors

Thursday, July 14 from 1-2:30 p.m. EDT

The use of common connectors (e.g. luer) between devices used for different clinical applications has resulted in serious and sometimes fatal consequences.
For example, an enteral feeding tube accidentally connected to an IV line can be fatal. To prevent these dangerous medical errors, an international group
began developing new standards that require unique and incompatible connectors for each clinical application, known as the ISO-80369 series of standards.

The unique ENFit connector meets these standards and was designed for enteral feeding connections. Feeding sets with the
new ENFit design became available in 2015. However, there has been a pause in the rollout of additional components necessary to complete the new, safer
enteral feeding system.

Join our expert panel on Thursday, July 14 from 1-2:30 p.m. EDT, to learn the reasons for the implementation pause, possible solutions,
and updated information on the planned rollout.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the reason for the enteral feeding system redesign,
  • Review the rollout timeline, and
  • Learn about resources available for education and planning for the new connectors.

Expert Panel:

Debora Simmons, PhD, RN, CCNS, Assistant Professor at the

University of Texas School of Biomedical Informatics

Tom Hancock, MBA, Executive Director GESDA

Michael R. Cohen, RPh, MS, ScD (hon.), DPS (hon.),
